NEW DELHI: As many as 44,111 new
cases of Covid-19 and 738
deaths have been registered in India in the last 24 hours, a health bulletin released by the Union health ministry stated on Saturday.
The case tally has been pushed to 3,05,02,362 and the death toll stands at 4,01,050 at present.
With 57,477 patients having been recovered over the last 24 hours, the
number of
active cases in the country has declined to 4,95,533. The active caseload has fallen below 5 lakh after 97 days, the government said.
Active cases at present constitute 1.62% of the total number of cases in India.
The
recovery rate has increased to 97.06%, Saturday's bulletin showed. Daily recoveries continued to outnumber the number of daily new cases for the 51st consecutive day, according to the government.
The government also said that a total of 2,96,05,779 patients have recovered from the disease across the country so far.
At 2.50%, the weekly positivity rate has remained below 5%. The daily positivity rate, at 2.35%, was less than 5% for the 26th day in row.
The health ministry also said that testing capacity has been substantially ramped up in India, and a total of 41.64 crore tests have been conducted so far.
A total of 34,46,11,291 vaccine doses have been administered through 45,60,088 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am on Saturday. As many as 43,99,298 vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours.
