LUDHIANA: The district unit (urban) of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) staged a protest against erratic power supply, rise in power rates, diesel, petrol and gas cylinder charges at Jagraon Bridge in the district headquarters of Ludhiana in Punjab on Friday.
They condemned the state as well as the central government for inflation and the pathetic state of the common man due to certain policies.
The Akali Dal leaders held internal bickering among CM Captain Amarinder Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu responsible for such pitiable condition of public.
The leaders condemned the state and the Centre for not paying attention to the plight of the common man.
The leaders claimed that prices of petrol and diesel have increased a lot but neither the state government nor the Centre is ready to give relief.
The state government can reduce VAT on petrol, diesel and LPG cylinders but it is not doing it and the Centre instead of taking any decision is waiting for the Congress government to reduce VAT.
District president of SAD Ranjit Singh Dhillon said, “Sidhu and Captain are busy settling their scores and the public is the sufferer."
The BSP leaders also joined the protest.
