Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has taken the issue of Chit Fund fraud seriously and instructed top officials of Chhattisgarh government to ensure speedy recovery of the money of investors which was defrauded by Chit Fund Companies.

CM Baghel chaired the meeting of top officials of Chhattisgarh Home Department at his official residence Raipur and directed the officials concerned to take prompt action to get back the deposits of investors from chit fund companies, a government statement said on Friday.

He gave instructions to constitute a committee of Collector and Superintendent of Police at district-level and review the progress of action being taken against the chit fund companies, by holding weekly time-bound meetings, the communique said.

Action for recovery should be taken as per the rules.

He also instructed the officials to develop a portal which contains details related to Chit Fund company, property and other assets.

Notably, in the meeting it was informed that 427 cases have been registered against 187 unregulated chit fund companies in the state, out of which 265 cases are pending in the courts. So far, Rs 9.32 crore has been attached to chit fund companies and Rs 7.86 crore has been returned to 17, 322 investors.
