COVID-19 in Pune: Coaching classes for competitive examinations to reopen; check out timings

Pune is an educational hub. Students from different cities, states and even foreign countries come to the city for studies. Hence, it is also referred to as the 'Oxford of the East'. Meanwhile, keeping in mind the upcoming competitive examinations, coaching classes have been allowed to reopen in the city.

Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Mayor Murlidhar Mohol on Friday said permission has been granted to reopen coaching classes for competitive examinations. The classes can function from 7 am to 4 pm, he added.

Meanwhile, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) reported 269 new COVID-19 cases on Friday. According to an update by Mayor Murlidhar Mohol, the death toll climbed to 8,599 with 5 new fatalities. A total of 220 patients were discharged during the day, taking the total number of discharged/ recovered patients to 4,67,725. As of now, there are 2,748 active COVID-19 cases.

Maharashtra on Friday reported 8,753 new COVID-19 cases, taking the infection tally to 60,79,352, while the death toll rose to 1,22,353 with the addition of 156 fresh fatalities, a state health department official.

The official said as many as 8,385 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, pushing the number of recovered cases to 58,36,920.

The state now has 1,16,867 COVID-19 patients under treatment, he said.
