Optus suffered a major network outage this morning Friday, 2 July.

Downdetector was showing the Optus outage as commencing at around 10:00am.

The issue was wide-spread with reports from all capital cities and major centres.

The outage impacted most, if not all, Optus fixed and mobile network customers.

Optus reported the issue on Twitter and the Optus outage page.

Services were restored by Friday afternoon.

An Optus spokesperson said:

At this time Optus has not disclosed the cause.  However, I speculate that for it to be this widespread the cause must be in the core of the Optus network.
