Austrian operators cut investments in 2020 by over 2%

Austrian operators invested in 2020 a total of EUR 666.5 million, down 2.4 percent from EUR 682.5 million the prior year, according to a report by regulator RTR based on a sample on 20 companies. The largest share of the investments was deployed for technical infrastructure. The auction for 5G frequencies in the 700 MHz, 1500 MHz and 2100 MHz bands took place in 2020 and yielded proceeds of EUR 202 million. Total revenues in the telecommunication sector, including wholesale revenues, amounted to EUR 4.28 billion in 2020, up 0.8 percent from the prior year.
