MANGALURU: In yet another incident of animal cruelty reported in the city, a healthy male community dog was reportedly shot dead with a suspected air gun at very close range, said Suma Nayak, trustee, Animal Care Trust.
She told TOI, the incident took place on Thursday between 3pm and 6pm at the first cross, 4th C Ring Road (Shivbagh New Road). “Clearly, this psychopathic person has no regard for life and has no fear of getting caught and that’s why he/she had the audacity to shoot down an animal in a residential area,” she said.
A post-mortem has been conducted and the air gun pellet was recovered during the post mortem. A complaint has been registered at the Mangaluru East Police Station, she added.
ACT has requested those who have CCTV footage or have any information about this incident to Whatsapp at 9845255777 and help with this investigation.
