The Reserve Bank of India, citing a survey by Bank of International Settlement (BIS), said that
most central banks are exploring Central Bank Digital
Currency (CBDC) which is a blockchain-based settlement system for fiat currencies against the traditional currency-based system.
RBI added that some central banks may launch their
CBDC within the next three years for retail purposes.
