Ludhiana: The Special Task Force (STF) wing of Ludhiana has nabbed a smuggler and recovered 813 gm of heroin from his possession. He has been identified as Sanjay Dass of Prem Nagar. STF in-charge Harbans Singh said on June 29, the STF had nabbed Sunny Nahar Laddu of Guru Gobind Singh Nagar and recovered 207 gm of heroin from his possession. Then, during the questioning of Sunny, he had admitted that Sanjay was the main supplier of heroin and he used to get heroin from him. Inspector Harbans said today acting on a tip-off, a naka was laid at Bhai Himmat Singh Nagar where after intercepting the accused he was stopped for checking which led to the recovery of 813 gm of heroin and Rs 70,000 drug money. Sanjay told STF officials that he was a taxi driver by profession but he started the illegal trade to become rich in a short span of time. He also had a notorious past as he was already facing five cases of drug smuggling. Sanjay had also undergone imprisonment in some murder case. Further probe is on in the case. TNS

Man’s body found in sack

Ludhiana: The body of a man was found in a sack in the Tibba area on Wednesday night. The deceased is yet to be identified. As per information, the deceased seems to be aged around 45 years. The body bears sharp cuts and the police suspect that the man was brutally killed with some sharp weapon. “I saw a sack lying on the road and foul smell was emanating from it. I informed the Police Control Room. When PCR cops reached and opened the sack, a body was found,” eyewitness Sahil said. The SHO, Tibba, Parmod Kumar, said the body is kept at Civil Hospital’s mortuary and CCTV cameras of the areas are being checked to get clue about the killers. A case of murder was registered against the unknown persons. TNS
