HUBBALLI: A crocodile entered Kogilaban village on the outskirts of Dandeli town in Uttara Kannada district on Thursday.
The reptile roamed around the street for half an hour, sending residents scurrying to lock gates and doors while the local strays fled.
Forest officials arrived soon after and took the reptile, believed to be about 6 years old, back to Kali river.
"The creature did no harm to anyone so long as it was in the midst of a human settlement," said officials.
Villagers sought fencing around the river to prevent crocodiles, aplenty in the Kali, from venturing into residential areas in and around the industrial town.
