The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has continued its action against illegal structures in the city. The Ghansoli ward carried out the demolition drive in Rabale area on Thursday and demolished an ongoing illegal construction. Last month, the Nerul, Ghansoli and Koparkhairane ward had removed the unauthorized structures.

As per the Encroachment department of Ghansoli ward, the extension works of a four-storey building was going on without permission. Despite a notice issued to remove the illegal extensions, Dashrath Pande, the developer, continued the civil work.

“The ward office had already issued a notice under Section 54 of the Maharashtra Regional Planning and Town Planning Act, 1966 and asked Pande to remove the illegal structures constructed as it was being constructed without the civic body’s permission. Despite the notice, instead of removing the illegal structure, they continued the construction,” said an official from the ward.

Last month, two ground-floor illegal structures were constructed at Arjunwadi in the Ghansoli area without any prior permission of the corporation. A notice under Section 54 of the MRTP Act, 1966 was issued by the Ghansoli ward office and asked to remove the illegal structure. However, they continued the unauthorized construction. Finally, the Ghansoli ward office removed two such unauthorized constructions.
