After Kang-ho Song other cast members of ‘Emergency Declaration’ to attend ‘Cannes Film Festival 2021’

South Korean movie “Emergency Declaration,” helmed by Han Jae-rim, and “In Front of Your Face” by Hong Sang-soo is invited in ‘Cannes Film Festival 2021’.
In the official nomination for the 74th Cannes Film Festival declared on Thursday, “Emergency declaration” was recorded in the ‘Out of Competition’ section along with five other movies, involving “Stillwater” by Tom McCarthy, “The Velvet Underground” by Todd Haynes, and “De Son Vivant” by Emmanuelle Bercot and it also celebrated South Korean director Hong Sang-soo’s “In Front of Your Face” appointed under the Cannes Premieres section.
The announcement marked the first time in five years in which a Korean movie flunked to make an entrance to Cannes’ the main event, excluding last year when the festival was cancelled.
The “Parasite” actor previously accepted an invitation to unify the competition jury of the 74th edition of the world’s most prestigious film festival.
This year, 24 movies including “The French Dispatch” by Wes Anderso, “Red Rocket” by Sean Baker, “Annette” by Leos Carax, and “Drive My Car” by Ryusuke Hamaguchi, will contend for Palme d’Or.
The full list of the jury’s led by American filmmaker Spike Lee will be declared next week. Song will be the fifth Korean to be a member of Cannes’ jury, following director Shin Sang-ok in 1994, director Lee Chang-dong in 2009, actress Jeon Do-yeon in 2014 and director Park Chan-wook in 2017.
