Kapurthala, Jul 1 (UNI) The district police have busted a gang of robbers by arresting four
members and seized arms and ammunition smuggled from Madhya Pradesh.
They have been identified as Yadwinder Singh (21) village Lakh Varian, Harsimranjeet Singh
(26) of village Chakpatti Bal Bahadur, Gurjit Singh (29) of village Chodriwal Mand, Tajinder Singh
(26) of village Kaimpura, Lakhwinder Singh of village Bahui in Kapurthala. Associate Sweety Singh
of village Umrati (MP) was also booked.
SSP said the robbers were active in the district for the past some time and today its four members were arrested with 10 Pistols 7.65 bore, One .315 bore Modified Rifle, Six magazines and 11 live cartridges.
He said acting swiftly police teams raided village Mand Begowal area on the banks of the Beas river, and when the criminals tried to flee from the spot after spotting the police, the teams overpowered the criminals and arrested four of them.
SSP said cases have been registered against them. He added that police would produce them before the Magistrate and would seek remand to complete further investigation and arrest the remaining members of the gang.
