Sixty prominent doctors participate in Green programme in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: With an objective to promote awareness on increasing green cover in Telangana, for the first-time 60 prominent doctors from various corporate and government hospitals have participated in Green India Challenge and Haritha Haram programmes in large numbers on Thursday.
While the state government kicked off the seventh phase of Haritha Haram programme to improve the green cover in the state, Rajya Sabha TRS MP Joginapally Santosh Kumar started Green India Challenge four years ago to bring awareness among the people on the importance of enhancing greenery in the country.
On the national Doctors’ day several prominent doctors and specialists from the government and private hospitals participated in planting of saplings at Children’s Park near Saibaba Temple in Film Nagar.
“To India, which gave the vedas to the world, Telangana has the distinction of giving the Tree Veda. Like the Vedic hymns chanting which drives away darkness of ignorance and leads the mind to light of wisdom, taking inspiration from CM KCR’s Haritha Haram programme. Green Indian Challenge is introducing the Green Veda to the country and this would spread the light of climate awareness among the people,” doctors who participated in the programme said.
Doctors said man has no respect towards nature and he is cutting the very branch on which he is sitting. He is killing the same source of his life and for the material benefits, he has forgotten to safeguard nature's wealth.
In this programme, Director of Medical Education Ramesh Reddy, Public Health Director G Srinivasa Rao, CM's OSD Gangadhar, Gandhi Hospital superintendent Raja Rao, NIMS Director Manohar, Padmaja (NIMS), doctors and specialists from Asian Institute of Gastroenterology, ANU Hospitals, Apollo, Continental, KIMS, Medicover, Rainbow, Sunshine, Virinchi, Yashoda hospitals have participated.
Speaking on the occasion Green Challenge founder and chairman J Santosh Kumar greeted the doctors on Doctor’s day. He said he was happy that 60 eminent doctors and specialists have come together on one dias and planted saplings.
“The initiative of the doctors is an inspiration to all and everybody should take it, as a responsibility to plant saplings and Green India Challenge should be passed on to the next generation. During the Covid 19 times everyone has realised the importance of Oxygen and understood the importance of protecting the environment,” Santosh Kumar said.
Yashoda Hospitals MD Surender Rao said plants are life support to all the living beings.
He said MP Santosh Kumar is doing a great service to the country through his Green India Challenge programme. AMG MD Nageshwar Reddy said everyone should plant trees and give back to the society.
Star Hospital MD Gopichand, NIMS Director Nagender, KIMS MD Bhaskar Rao, Rainbow MDs Ramesh Kancherla, Dinesh Kancherla, Sunshine MD Guruva Reddy, well-known doctor Sanjay Kaluvakuntla, Preeti K Shukla, Sastry, Umesh, Rita, Rajalingam and others participated.
