West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee launches student credit card for loans upto Rs 10 lakh

West Bengal (WB) government on Wednesday has launched a student credit card scheme to make Bengal’s youth self-reliant.

The WB Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said the state government has launched the # studentcreditcard to help Bengal’s students to pursue higher education, prepare for competitive exams, study whatever they want, the scheme will help them to pursue any course without worrying about the money, Banerjee added.

WB CM said, the scheme will benefit Bengal students to obtain more than Rs 10 lakh loan with an annual simple interest.

The Student credit card scheme has launched to support the Bengal students to pursue secondary,  higher secondary, undergraduate, madrasah education and postgraduate including professional courses at institutes within and outside India.

Bengal Students who are going for coaching and preparing competitive exams for Medical, Engineering, IAS, Law, WBCS, and IPS can enjoy the scheme.

Person is eligible for the scheme till 40 years of age. The state government has given 15 years to repay the loan.

Students will get a maximum loan of  Rs. 10 lakh at 4 percent per annum simple interest from the state cooperative bank or the banks should be affiliated with, district central cooperative banks, central cooperative banks and private or public sector banks.

Those students who want to study in foreign universities using the WB student credit card can pursue the courses of their choice up to post-doctoral level or Ph.D.
