Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer choked a woman unconscious during intercourse and had non-consensual anal sex with her, according to a domestic violence restraining order filed by the woman and obtained by DailyMail.com.

Bauer, 30, is currently being investigated in the matter by Pasadena (California) police. He has denied assaulting the woman, claiming that she asked him to be rough during consensual sex. 

The 27-year-old woman said had sexual encounters with Bauer in April and May, but that both episodes turned violent. She claimed that after the second encounter, Bauer left her with injuries that required hospital treatment.

In the request for the temporary restraining order, the woman provided photos of her injuries, which included black eyes and scratches to her face. She specifically alleged that Bauer punched her in the face, vagina, and buttocks, and strangled her with her own hair until she lost consciousness several times during their two meetings.

In a subsequent text message exchange included in the restraining order request and reviewed by DailyMail.com, the woman told Bauer that doctors thought the 'bruises/swelling' on her face would last another week, but that she wasn't sure when her 'head symptoms' would subside.

'I just want it all to go away,' she wrote Bauer.

'I feel so bad that this happened,' he responded. 'Wish I could be there with you through it.'

'Just grateful that you are showing that you care,' she wrote.

'I do. I absolutely do,' he texted her. 'Never want to see you hurting.'

The woman also alleges that on one occasion, she regained consciousness to find Bauer sodomizing her. 

'I agreed to have consensual sex; however, I did not agree or consent to what he did next,' the woman said. 'I did not agree to be sexually assaulted.' 

The woman said she was bleeding and struggling to walk, but added: 'in my state at that time, I did not think Trevor was a threat to do anything against my will for the remainder of the night.' 

The woman said Bauer asked her jokingly the next day if she was 'feeling a little sore this morning?'

She said she told him that she didn't enjoy it and said he seemed to understand. 

The woman said she and Bauer continued to communicate via messages for the next three weeks, discussing baseball and her new job as well as communicating 'in a sexual nature'.

When the pair met again, the woman said they agreed on a safe word which she alleged Bauer proceeded to ignore, choking her until she lost consciousness. 

When she awoke, he was punching her in the face, the woman claimed in the request for the restraining order.

'This was the first punch I felt but it is very possible that Trevor had already been punching and scratching the right side of my face while I was unconscious,' she said.

'Trevor then punched me hard with a closed fist to the left side of my jaw, the left side of my head, and both cheekbones. I remember this vividly and it was extremely startling and painful. 

'I was absolutely frozen and terrified. I could not speak or move. After punching me several times, he then flipped me back onto my stomach and began choking me with hair. I lost consciousness again.'

The woman said that she was crying and shaking after regaining consciousness and that Bauer reportedly began to console her, allegedly saying: 'You're safe. I'm here. You're safe,' and whispering to her, 'I would never do those things to you if it wasn't sexually.' 

The woman said Bauer checked in on her via text after their second encounter and asked if there was anything he could do.

She also said that she went to hospital and had CT scans before explaining to medical professionals what had happened.

She said she then spoke to multiple San Diego Police Department detectives but said she downplayed the alleged incident as 'rough sex' and did not reveal Bauer's name.  

'I was afraid what Trevor would do if he found out,' the woman said in the restraining order request. 'I remain afraid that Trevor will find me and hurt me for going to the hospital.'

Details of the alleged sexual assaults were revealed in a request for a temporary restraining order filed by the woman against Bauer, and reported by The Athletic 

In the document, the woman explained that she spoke with Bauer by phone at the instruction of police, who were recording the call.  

During that conversation, the woman said she asked Bauer: 'What did you do to me when I was unconscious?' 

In response, he allegedly admitted that he had repeatedly punched her in the buttocks. She said that he changed the topic when she said she did not consent to being punched.

The woman claimed that the call ended with Bauer acknowledging that he punched her and asking how they could move forward and if he could contact her. 

'I told him that he could because I did not know if the police still needed to collect more messages from him as evidence. It is my understanding that there is an open criminal investigation. I have not been informed whether the proper authorities intend to arrest and press charges against Trevor. I intend to comply with whatever is requested of me in connection with criminal proceedings. As the shock has worn off, I recognize the seriousness of the sexual assault I endured. I do not want Trevor to put anyone else through what I suffered. 

A formal hearing is scheduled for July 23, during which Bauer will have the opportunity to respond to the allegations. His team confirmed to The Athletic that they intend to participate in the hearing. 

No charges have been filed against Bauer.

On Tuesday, the woman's lawyer, Marc Garelick, said he expects criminal charges to be pressed following the conclusion of the investigation into his client's claims. 

'Our goal is to keep Mr. Bauer from contacting our client in any way possible,' Garelick said in reference to the request for the restraining order.

'We anticipate there will be criminal action against Mr Bauer, and it is our hope law enforcement will take our client's allegations and case seriously.'

Bauer's agent, Jon Fetterolf, insisted the encounters between the player and the woman were 'brief and wholly consensual' and had been initiated by the woman in April 2021. 

Fetterolf said on Tuesday: 'We have messages that show [the woman] repeatedly asking for 'rough' sexual encounters involving requests to be 'choked out' and slapped in the face.

'In both of their encounters, [the woman] drove from San Diego to Mr Bauer's residence in Pasadena, California, where she went on to dictate what she wanted from him sexually and he did what was asked.

'Following each of her only two meetings with Mr Bauer, [the woman] spent the night and left without incident, continuing to message Mr Bauer with friendly and flirtatious banter.'

A formal hearing is scheduled for July 23, during which Bauer will have the opportunity to respond to the allegations. His team confirmed to The Athletic that they intend to participate in the hearing. No charges have been filed against Bauer 

Fetterolf said that the woman told the baseball star that she was concussed, following their second meeting.

'In the days following their second and final encounter, [the woman] shared photos of herself and indicated that she had sought medical care for a concussion.

'Mr Bauer responded with concern and confusion, and [the woman] was neither angry nor accusatory.'

He said the pair have not been in contact for a month, or seen each other in over six weeks.

Fetterolf added: 'Her basis for filing a protection order is nonexistent, fraudulent, and deliberately omits key facts, information, and her own relevant communications.

'Any allegations that the pair's encounters were not 100% consensual are baseless, defamatory, and will be refuted to the fullest extent of the law.'

Bauer's team have not commented following the report by The Athletic detailing the woman's allegations. They have referred media to their previous statement. 

The Dodgers were made aware of the allegations Tuesday and have contacted MLB, which will 'be handling this matter,' the team said in a statement.

'The Dodgers take any allegations of this nature very seriously, but will have no further comment at this time,' the statement, reported by MLB.com, said.

The California-born Bauer ranks among baseball's best pitchers and won the National League Cy Young award last season as a member of the Cincinnati Reds. He last pitched on Monday.

He celebrated his impressive 2020 season by inking a three-year, $102 million contract with the Dodgers before the 2021 campaign.

Prior to his successful one-year stint with Cincinnati, Bauer played for the Cleveland Indians and Arizona Diamondbacks. He also collegiately played at UCLA where he set a single-season Pac-12 strikeout record. 

Bauer made headlines in 2019 when he and his Twitter followers were accused of relentlessly harassing a woman who had criticized him.  

'It has definitely ruined my last three days,' Nikki Giles, 21, told USA Today. 'I have cried daily and called my family crying because the first 12 to 24 hours or so I was getting a lot of hate.'

Giles said she reported the attacks to the team, via Facebook, flagging several of Bauer's tweets.    

The bizarre social media skirmish began when Bauer tweeted criticism of Giles's favorite player, Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman.

Giles responded by telling Bauer that he was her 'least favorite' baseball player, but over the next few days, he tagged her in at least 80 tweets as his own followers began harassing her, according to USA Today.

'Maybe you shouldn't have trolled me then,' he wrote at one point.   

Giles tried blocking him, but eventually unblocked him in order to respond to his criticism.

Bauer backtracked in a statement, saying that online bullying is wrong.  

'I often defend myself against internet trolling, bullying and slander,' he said. 'My responses to fans are good-natured. I do not encourage any of my fans, followers, or friends to attack, insult or harass anyone on any social media platform, or in real life.

'There is no room for that in the world. I have been made aware that some of the interactions related to a specific Twitter exchange may have had a negative impact. That was not my intention. 

'I will wield the responsibility of my public platform more responsibly in the future.' 

Bauer is known as an active Twitter user. He's previously engaged in several conspiracy theories, like the unfounded claim that former President Barack Obama was born outside the United States. 

He also frequently criticizes the media for its coverage of President Donald Trump.
