
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Thursday issued notice to Centre on a PIL claiming to espouse the cause of thousands of Hindus West Bengal allegedly being targeted by Muslims as revenge for supporting BJP as “they want to crush Hindus so that for years to come the power may remain with the party of their choice.”
The apex court also issued notices to WB govt and Election Commission (EC) on the PIL which alleged that during the post-poll violence, TMC supporters started creating chaos, unrest and set houses and properties of Hindus on fire, looted their belongings for the simple reason that they had supported BJP.”
Mamata Banerjee party had won 213 seats out of 292 seats in West Bengal assembly elections in the bitterly contested polls while BJP won 77 seats.
Several violent incidents were reported after supporters of Trinamool Congress and BJP allegedly clashed in various parts of the state since May 2, killing at least 16 people and triggering alleged exodus.
