Eric Tinkler admits he looks back on his time at Orlando Pirates with fond memories as he prepares to take charge of Cape Town City for the second time.
The 50-year-old former SuperSport United, Chippa United and Maritzburg United boss was named Buccaneers head coach in 2014 and guided the side to two cup finals ahead of his exit and subsequent move to City.
In his time with City, Tinkler won the 2016 Telkom Knockout final, while he claimed the 2017 MTN8 title with SuperSport, and says he learnt a lot at Pirates, first as assistant to Roger De Sa, and then as top dog, for the first time in his career.
Speaking to iDiski Times, Tinkler said: "I loved my time at Orlando Pirates. Obviously, expectations are extremely high and for some people, that all depends on how you measure success.
"But I think yes, obviously, the year that I was the head coach, we got to the CAF Confederation Cup final, we got to the Nedbank Cup final and unfortunately lost in both those competitions.
"But the memories are still there, and the performances are still there. I know, and obviously, football people know how difficult it is to get yourself into those finals; it doesn't come easy.
"So, I look back on it with fond memories, but no better place to learn how to work under pressure than at Orlando Pirates. Obviously, I think that boded well for me in my career."
