NAGDA (UJJAIN DISTRICT): Ex-sarpanch of Ratanyakhedi has demanded that loopholes in the execution of Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana (PMAY) be plugged to make the scheme more inclusive for the needy lot.

Ex-sarpanch of Ratanyakhedi village said that name of Indira Awas Yojana was changed to Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojna from the year 2016-17. The scheme provides financial assistance of one lakh and twenty thousand to the beneficiaries who are homeless, or own a kuccha house or live in a one room in rural areas for construction of pucca houses.

Prime Minister has announced to provide pucca roofs for all by 2022. The selection of the beneficiaries was considered on the basis of 2011 census and social and economic census. Due to which more than 100 houses have been approved in any village and in many villages not a single house has been approved yet, he added.

He alleged that the Gram Panchayat has uploaded the list of beneficiaries without housing on the portal many times by the district and district panchayat.

But not a single beneficiary has been approved for housing construction in five years from 2016-17 to 2020-21. Panwar has urged the District Panchayat and MLA of the constituency to give priority to the deprived villages in 2021-22.
