Indore: Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court has granted a final opportunity to Indian Institute of Technology Indore to file its reply on a petition filed by a PhD scholar accusing his guide of harassment and seeking directives for the institute to allow him to get his degree.

Counsel of IIT Indore, Abhishek Malviya soughttwo weeks as the last chance to file a reply. In addition, Malviya submitted that within seven days the respondents will arrange a meeting with the petitioner (Shyam Singh) in order to resolve the dispute amicably.

Shyam’s counsel Pushyamitra Bhargava was given liberty by the division bench comprising Justice Sujoy Paul and Justice Anil Verma to serve notice to guide Dr Hem Chandra Jha by Dasti service.

The next date of hearing has been set for July 19.

Shyam claiming harassment by his guide at IIT Indore had moved court in 2019 fearing that he may not be able to complete his degree.
