GURUGRAM: The commissioner of the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has directed officials to prepare a list of
sanitation workers deployed in each zone after receiving several complaints about lack of cleanliness in areas where outsourcing agencies have provided workers.
MCG officials said the list will be uploaded on the corporation's website and a comprehensive plan will be made to assign duties to workers.
In an order issued on Tuesday, commissioner
Mukesh Kumar Ahuja directed officials of the sanitation department to mark the attendance of each sanitation worker. Ahuja said the number of sanitation workers actually deployed on the ground is less compared to the numbers given in the work order and said it is a “serious matter”.
“They shall collect the attendance registers for each beat and ensure that the attendance is marked by each safai worker. The register should be attested and verified by the senior medical officer within two days. They shall ensure that all the rickshaw rehdi (cart), hath rehdi, trolley etc being used by sanitation workers are well-painted and the rehdi number, zone number and MCG logo and contractor's name are displayed on them. A list of the same should also be prepared and submitted within two days. They shall send daily attendance through
WhatsApp by 8am,” read the order issued by the MCG commissioner.
Moreover, sanitation officials have also been directed to collect documents such as Aadhaar card and bank account details and provide the chief accounts officer with the information so that the salaries of employees can be disbursed before the seventh day of every month.
