Roger Federer vs Richard Gasquet
Tennis legend Roger Federer will lock horns against Richard Gasquet of France in the second round of the Wimbledon 2021. He progressed to round 2 after a scare in the opening game against Adrian Mannarino in four sets contest which followed the latter’s walkover due to an injury. Gasquet on the other hand also managed a win in a four sets battle against Yuichi Sugita. Federer holds an upper hand against Gasquet 18-2 and likely to emerge victorious in his bid to close in the 21st Grand Slam title and go past Spain rival Rafael Nadal.
Ash Barty vs Anna Blinkova
World No.1 Ash Barty will be squaring off against Blinkova in round 2 of the Wimbledon 2021. The latter defeated Timea Babos in straight sets to meet Barty. The Aussie, on the other hand, had defeated Carla Suarez Navarro in the opening match to progress to the next round in her pursuit of the maiden Wimbledon title. The duo will be taking on each other for the first time. On paper, Barty is the favourite to win the match but matches are not played on a piece of paper. Blinkova who has never made it past 2nd round in Wimbledon will be looking to better her record. She needs to bring her A-game on the court if she has to give stiff competition to Barty.
Coco Gauff vs Elena Vesnina
20th seed Coco Gauff will take on Elena Vesnina in game number 2 at Centre Court on Thursday. The 17-year-old recently impressed everyone with her best performance in French Open before losing the quarterfinals. She is expected to win the match against Elena Vesnina who eased past Martina Trevisan with a straight-sets win in the opening round. Her best in Wimbledon is playing in the semi-final of the 2016 edition. Gauff, on the other hand, is heading into the contest with a straight-sets win over Francesca Jones.
