Palghar, Jul 1 (UNI) The MBVV (Mira-Bhayander Vasai Virar) police have arrested two brothers on the charge of allegedly brutally killing a cab driver and disposing off his body.
The accused had hired the cab of the victim to go to Lonavala from Mumbai. En route there was a quarrel over the payment of the toll, following which the brothers brutally killed the victim, Santosh Jha (52), and dumped his body at Pangoli village below the Amrutanjan bridge on the Mumbai-Pune road, police said.
The accused then drove the cab to Kolhapur and abandoned it at Satavani village by the side of the Chaloba Temple on the Chandgad-Gadhinglaj road.
Following the incident, the Lonavala police had registered a case of accidental death while the Virar police had registered a case of missing person and launched the search for him since June 17.
The police traced the body with the help of the GPS tracking device installed in the vehicle.
The Virar police on Wednesday registered the criminal case under sections 302, 201 and 34 of Indian Penal Code against the two brothers and arrested them, sources added.
They have been identified as Yusuf Charus (35) and Mustaking Charus (25, both construction workers and natives of Nipani in Belgavi).
