On behalf of 130 crore Indians, I want to thank all the doctors: PM Modi on National Doctors’ Day

Earlier today, PM Narendra Modi thanked the entire medical fraternity for their constant efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.

On the occasion of National Doctors’ Day, which is celebrated on July 1 every year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the medical fraternity and praised them for their countless efforts and services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

He thanked virtually, “I want to thank all doctors on behalf of all 1.3 billion people of India. Our doctors work like Gods and change the course of our lives.”

In addition, he paid respects to the families of the doctors who lost their lives during the pandemic. “Even though the virus is mutating, so is the knowledge of the doctors”, he continued.

On June 29, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) had informed that 798 doctors had passed away during the pandemic’s frightening second wave nationwide.128 doctors lost their lives in Delhi, most in the country, followed by Bihar losing 115 doctors.

Concerning India’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, the PM said that looking at India’s death and infection rate, the country had fared better than many big nations.

The PM also announced that the Centre has come up with ₹50,000 crore Credit Guarantee Scheme to strengthen the health infrastructure in areas that lack health facilities.

Moreover, he has asked the citizens to follow COVID-19 protocols as well as appropriate behaviour with greater awareness. He added, “Many modern science institutions are doing studies on Yoga is helping in fighting post-COVID complications.”
