Yogi Adityanath to inaugurate Purvanchal Expressway in August: Mahana

New Delhi, Jul 1 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate the 340.824-km long Purvanchal Expressway in August, state's Infrastructure and Industrial Development Minister Satish Mahana informed on Thursday.

Addressing a virtual press conference, Mr Mahana said, 'The construction work of Purvanchal Expressway is almost complete and will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in August.'

Mr Mahana informed that 95 per cent of the work of Purvanchal Expressway has been completed.

Purvanchal Expressway for the development of the remotest eastern region is a 'dream project' of the Uttar Pradesh government, he said.

The 340.824-km long and 6-lane wide access controlled Purvanchal Expressway will connect Chand Saray village near Gosainganj in Lucknow district with Haydaria village on NH-31 in Ghazipur district.

Mr Mahana further informed that the work of construction of the 594-km long Ganga Expressway will also pick pace in September.

According to Awanish Kumar Awasthi, Additional Chief Secretary and Chief Executive Officer, Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), the Purvanchal Expressway with a total project value of Rs 22,494 crore will get functional next month for the development of the remotest eastern region.

Mr Awasthi further informed that after giving momentum to the construction of three expressways -- Purvanchal, Bundelkhand and Gorakhpur-Link amid the fight against Covid pandemic, the Uttar Pradesh government is geared up to boost construction of the 594-km Ganga Expressway which will be built at a cost of Rs 36,387.17 crore.

He informed that more than 85 percent land has been acquired for the construction of the longest Ganga Expressway in the state and more than Rs 5000 crore has been given to over 62 thousand farmers.

The construction work of the expressway passing through 12 districts -- Meerut, Bulandshahar, Hapur, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj will pick pace from September, Mr Mahana said.

Talking about the Industries in the state, Mr Mahana said, 'Better infrastructure, safety, security and adjusting attitude of the state government have allured industrialists to set up their industry in Uttar Pradesh.'

Owing to a conducive environment, Uttar Pradesh has become the first choice for industrialists nationally and internationally, he said.

Mr Mahana said even during the coronavirus pandemic, Uttar Pradesh has received its first overseas investment and Electronic Giants such as Samsung and Microsoft have shown interest in setting up production units in the state.

While referring to the investment proposals received in the investment meet held in the state, Mr Mahana and Industrial Development Commissioner said 1045 proposals were received for investment of Rs 4.28 crore in the state.

Out of these, 215 proposals with an investment of worth Rs 51,240.25 crore are already on the ground and the production is under process. Whereas, to set up their factories, investors of around 130 investment proposals worth Rs 37,478.63 crore are getting the construction work started this year. Apart from this, the construction work of 449 investment proposals worth Rs 86,842 crore will start next year.

Regarding the investment of foreign companies in the state, proposals of more than 40 foreign companies have been received in the state.

During the ongoing pandemic, many companies like Samsung and Vivo have invested in the state.

Mr Mahana said the state government has prepared all investor friendly policies to promote industrial investment.

Now, the investors do not face any problem in getting land to set up their factory in the state, he said.

A Land Bank has been created by the government for the industries, the Minister said.

'With the investor friendly policies of the state government, big investors from the country as well as abroad are setting up their factories in the state. In the last four years, UPSIDA, Noida, Greater Noida, YEIDA and GIDA have allotted 3,908 industrial plots,' Mr Mahana said.

An investment of Rs 61,330.98 crore has been made through these,' he said.

'In order to promote industrial investment in the state, the government has allotted land for construction of Mega Leather Park at Unnao, Logistics Hub and Heritage City along Yamuna Expressway, Textile Park along Yamuna Expressway, MSME Park, Toy City and Handicrafts Park, Plastic Park at Gorakhpur, Trans Ganga City in Unnao, Perfume Park in Kannauj, Theme Park in Agra and Saraswati Hi-Tech City in Prayagraj and Mega Food Park in Bareilly.

Apart from this, a defence corridor is being constructed in the state,' the Minister said.
