Mumbai reported 661 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, taking the total tally to 7,22,879. The city also recorded 21 deaths due to the virus on Thursday which pushed its fatality count to 15,472 as per data released by the city's civic body.
Total 489 COVID-19 patients recovered and were discharged on Thursday, taking the recovery count to 6,96,594. Now, there are 8,498 active cases in the city.
On Thursday, 38,652 tests were conducted. May 17, had reported the lowest count rate with just 17,640 tests. To date, 71,81,452 tests have been conducted in the city.
Meanwhile, the doubling rate in Mumbai has increased to 733 days, while the weekly growth rate has remained at 0.09 per cent.
There are a total of 11 containment zones in the city and 75 buildings have been sealed as per today's data. The recovery rate of the Mumbai district has increased to 96 per cent.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra on Thursday recorded 9,195 fresh cases, taking the number of active cases to 1,16,667. Besides, 252 COVID-19 deaths were reported in the day, taking the number of total fatalities to 1,22,197.
8,634 patients were discharged in the day, taking the tally to 58,28,535. The recovery rate in the state rose to 96.01%. The case fatality rate in the state is 2.01%.
Currently, 6,15,285 people are in-home quarantine and 4,339 people are in institutional quarantine.
