MUMBAI: The
Bandra unit of the city anti-narcotics cell on Wednesday arrested two persons and seized heroin and mephedrone worth Rs 5.74 crore.
The police arrested Sanjib Nimay Sarkar 39, a Goregaon resident in western Mumbai, and
Salim Khan, 41, a Malad resident. Both have been booked under the stringent
NDPS act.
On Wednesday, a police team comprising inspector Sanjay Chavhan, API Bandgar, API Bhoye , API Karkar, PSI Pawale, PN Devarde, PN Dhole, PN Mandhare, PC Rathod, PC Indulkar, WPC Jagtap, PND Rane apprehended the two accused near Goregaon bus depot. While frisking and examining Sarkar, police recovered 1.1kg Mephedrone aka MD and 1 kg 80 gm heroin. Police while frisking Khan recovered 150 gram MD from him. The drugs collectively worth Rs 5.74 crore were seized. Besides this, investigators also seized Rs 65,000 from them.
DCP Dutta Nalawade, who headed the operation, said, “ The ANC Mumbai has launched an operation against drug suppliers and we are constantly working to track and nab them.”
