The Family Man: Priyamani opens up on receiving 'hate' for playing Suchi, says people comment 'you shouldn't have betrayed Srikant'

Actress Priyamani, who plays Srikant Tiwari's wife Suchi in Amazon Prime Video's 'The Family Man', recently opened up about being trolled online for her character in the spy thriller.

In the espionage action thriller series created by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, Manoj Bapyee plays Srikant Tiwari, an intelligence officer trying to balance his personal and professional life on the show. Priyamani is seen as his onscreen wife Suchitra (Suchi).

In a recent interview, the 'Raavan' actress shared that fans of the popular series often take to social media to attack her and leave mean comments. Priyamani revealed that she's receiving online hate for the behavior of her fictional character towards the show's lead.

In an interview with journalist Puja Talwari, the actress said, "Not season one so much, but I got a lot of hate after season two. Almost every day, whatever post I put out on social media, the first thing everybody says is, 'you shouldn't have betrayed Srikant', 'you shouldn't have done this to Srikant', 'why did you stab Srikant in the back?'."

Priyamani said that she tries to laugh it off as she feels that she has been able to do justice to the character. She also added that she feels Suchi is "one of the most hated characters in the web series world right now."

"I must have done something right for them to hate the character that much," she said.

In the same interview, the actress also revealed that she wanted to address the trolling publically, but decided against it after a discussion with show's creators Raj and DK.

'The Family Man 2' returned for a second season on Amazon Prime Video. A third season has also been teased.

The series also stars Samantha Akkineni, Sharib Hashmi, Shreya Dhanwanthary, Darshan Kumar, Sunny Hinduja, Shahab Ali, Ashlesha Thakur and Vedant Sinha in pivotal roles.
