Srinagar, Jul 1 (UNI) A fresh weather warning for isolated thundershowers, lightning with 30 km to 40 km per hour gusty winds has been issued in Jammu and Kashmir during the next four days.
Meanwhile, after witnessing sunny day on Thursday, weather was pleasant in the evening due to rain and strong winds in different parts of the valley, including summer capital, Srinagar. However, the world famous ski resort of Gulmarg witnessed rain several times during the day, mush to the delight tourists who had come from different parts of the country, where the heat wave continued.
A Met department spokesman said this evening that there could be scattered light rain and thunderstorm over Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours. Isolated to scattered light rain and thunderstorm could occur during the subsequent two days, he said.
He warned there could be isolated thundershowers and lightening with 30 km to 40 km per hour gusty winds during the next four days in the Jammu and Kashmir.
After heat-wave for about a week due to above normal maximum temperature, weather turned pleasant again this evening due to rain and strong winds in the valley.
Srinagar received rain this evening after witnessing above normal maximum and minimum temperature on Thursday. The minimum temperature in the city was 18.6 degree, 0.9 degree above normal while the maximum temperature today was 31 degree,1.4 notch above normal, he said. The sky would be partly cloudy to very light rain and thundershowers, he said adding the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 30 degree and 19 degree respectively in Srinagar during the next 24 hours.
Gulmarg, where the footfall of tourists has increased many fold during the past over a week, the maximum temperature was 23 degree, 2.4 notches above normal despite 1.4 mm rainfall during the day from 0830 hrs to 1730 hrs. The minimum temperature was 10.9 degree, 0.5 degree above normal.
The minimum temperature at famed health resort of Pahalgam was 10,8 degree, 0.5 degree below normal while the maximum temperature was 25 degree, 0.2 degree above normal after experiencing 3.8 mm rainfall during the day.
He said Qazigund witnessed above normal maximum and minimum temperature while the maximum temperature at Kokernag and Kupwara was above normal but the minimum temperature remained below normal.
He said Mirpur in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) recorded 44.5 degree maximum temperature, highest in the region while the minimum temperature was 31.8 degree. The maximum and minimum temperatures at Muzaffarabad, capital of PoK, were 39 degree and 21.6 degree respectively. The sky would be partly cloudy to light rain and thundershowers in Muzaffarabad and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 38 degree and 22 respectively during the next 24 hours.
