Bollywood actress Alaya F and her grandfather Kabir Bedi, who share the warmest relationship, recently shared some memories and stories from their lives. They appeared to be having a great time together as they participated in a live session on Instagram.
Alaya asked Bedi about his recently-released autobiography, 'Stories I Must Tell: The Emotional Life of an Actor' and the fun-filled banter covered various topics from Bedi's emotional life journey - his revolutionary parents, highs and lows from a career spanning over three continents, various relationships, open marriage, parenthood, broken marriages and mental health.
The veteran actor has been quite open about the various ups and downs of his life in his autobiography.
During the live session, Bedi recalled the time when his children Pooja Bedi and Siddharth Bedi would fly to the US, while he was working in Hollywood. He spoke on how he 'always' regretted that he couldn't spend more time with them.
Kabir said that though he had divorced Alaya's nani (grandmother) Protima Bedi, he never divorced his children.
"The children had to be brought to me in their vacations or I would fly from America. So there was no sacrifice involved, there was a cost involved but that didn't matter. What mattered was spending time with them. Whenever there's a divorce people always talk about quality time...but quantity is also important," he said.
"I regret that I couldn't give enough quantity time (to Pooja and Siddharth). So I tried to make it up by having the best time I could with them when they came. And that's what mattered to me," he added.
"It was always on my mind to keep them as a part of my life and that was something I managed to do. I always regret that I couldn't spend more time with them but then that's what happens in divorces," he further said.
Alaya also shared how she and her friends thoroughly enjoyed reading Bedi's book and his life story which is relevant and relatable even today.
The actor said that he's dedicated his book to all the youngsters who want to make this world a better place. Alaya also expressed how she found his life bold and ahead of its times while Kabir chuckled how there was a time when he was as young as Alaya and a rebel of the family.
Over the freewheeling chat, Bedi also shared, "I survived enormous successes and downfalls including bankruptcy in America. But I rose from all that... For readers, they can learn from my life, what did he do wrong that I shouldn't repeat... It's okay to fail, but not to give up. I've learnt from my failures and hope others do too."
