The Mumbai police have busted a racket of extortion and arrested three persons from Alwar and Bharatpur in Rajasthan. The Police officials said the accused were blackmailing a 41-year-old businessman from Mumbai for sharing his obscene picture and were demanding cash.

The police said the complainant, a businessman, received a friendship request from a woman on a social networking site. They further chatted and shared their number's to have a video chat. "The accused showed an obscene video of a woman playing it on another mobile, through his front camera of the phone. They took a screenshot of the accused seeing it. She then started threatening the victim demanding a cash of Rs 26,000 or else the pictures will be viral on social networking sites," said a police officer.

The complainant approached the NM Joshi police and registered an extortion case under section 384 of the Indian penal code and sections of the Information Technology act.

The police started the investigation by checking the fake ids, whatsapp number and location and offline identities. The team of NM Joshi police in June reaches Bharatpur in Rajasthan where three persons were allegedly operating a full-fledged online sexortion racket. With the help of local police and sources the police team searches for the accused to arrest them. The police said the arrested accused are identified as Subil Kumar Rajput 23, Jaikamdeen Khan 32 and Hamad Azgar Ali Qadri 26. "All the three accused were arrested and after producing in court are remanded in custody till July 7," Pratap Bhosle, senior police inspector, NM joshi police station.

The team of officers including police sub-inspector Nikhil Shelke and B.P. Patil who reached Rajasthan for investigation and arrested the accused claim the accused have cheated many such victims in Mumbai and its suburbs. It's a complete racket run by the locals, cheating people across different states. "We have informed all the police stations across Mumbai and Thane and others of Maharashtra to check any such extortion case that has happened and registered in their jurisdiction," added Bhosle.
