Live cartridges found in Mumbai's Goregaon suburb

As many as 45 live cartridges were found near a high-rise building in suburban Goregaon, police said on Tuesday. A man who spotted them alerted police on Monday night. The cartridges were of 2.5 MM pistol. A case has been filed against an unidentified person under the Arms Act and police are scanning CCTV footage from the area, an official said.

Man stabbed to death in Mumbai

A 23-year-old man was stabbed to death allegedly by an unidentified person after they had a scuffle in Mumbai, a police official said on Wednesday. The incident took place on Tuesday evening near the Crawford Market in south Mumbai. Sohail Sayyad Ali alias Shahid, a resident of Masjid Bunder area here, had a fight with the unidentified accused following which the latter allegedly stabbed him in the chest with a knife and fled from the spot, the official said.The victim was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, the official said.

Maharashtra reports 8,085 new COVID-19 cases, 231 deaths

Maharashtra reported 8,085 new COVID-19 cases and 231 fatalities on Tuesday, taking its caseload to 60,51,633 and death toll to 1,21,804, the health department said in a release. As many as 8,623 patients were discharged from hospitals in the 24 hours since Monday evening, pushing the number of recovered patients to 58,09,548.Maharashtra's recovery rate of COVID-19 cases is 96 per cent, while the fatality rate stood at 2.01 per cent. There are 1,17,098 active COVID-19 patients in the state.
