The mid-point of the year started off with a bang with the return of The Family Man. The second season of the series did the seemingly impossible and surpassed the first with its fast-paced storytelling and thrilling action sequences. After Wandavision and Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Marvel released its third spin-off series with Loki, starring Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson. Aside from these much-anticipated titles, June was packed with other exciting movies and TV shows. Here’s everything people watched and loved in the month gone by.

1. Sherni (2021)

Vidya Balan delivers yet another powerhouse performance with her latest movie Sherni. Director Amit Masurkar, who previously helmed the critically-acclaimed Newton, takes on the complex ‘man vs nature’ discussion with this one. In the movie, Balan plays a newly transferred forest officer who is tasked with locating an errant tigress who had been attacking locals. This seemingly straightforward task is met with many hurdles in the form of local politicians, incompetent officials, and chest-thumping hunters who want to add to their trophy collection.

This month also saw the premiere of the highly anticipated Marvel spin-off TV series featuring everyone’s favourite trickster, Loki. We get introduced to the mysterious Time Variance Authority, an organisation responsible for ensuring that there are no glitches in the multiverse. Because Loki created an alternate version of his reality after stealing the Tesseract, he is presented before the TVA and given a choice: annihilation or assist in fixing the timeline to stop a bigger threat. Along with Tom Hiddleston, the series also stars Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Sophia Di Martino, and Eugene Cordero.
