Several Indie stars will also feature in the WWE NXT Breakout Tournament, with Andre Chase being one of them. Chase is the new in-ring name given to the Indie star Harlem Bravado who signed with the company in February earlier this year. Guru Raaj is another talent who is being tried out. He joined the company last year back in January and made his NXT live debut in February 2020. The Indian audience may remember him from the WWE Superstar Spectacle event where he lost to the then WWE NXT Champion Finn Balor.
The second match of the night saw Desmond Troy and Joe Gacy squaring off against each other. Troy is a former Desmond Dejournette. He was signed in 2018 and has worked on several Raw, Smackdown, NXT, and Main Event matches between 2019-2020. Meanwhile, Gacy is a former EVOLVE star and CZW Champion who signed in October 2020.
Talking about the history of the tournament, the first and only WWE NXT Breakout Tournament was held back in 2019 that featured 8 competitors including, Dexter Lumis, Angel Garza, Cameron Grimes, Boa, Jacquin Wilde, Isaiah “Swerve” Scott, Bronson Reed, and the winner Jordan Myles. Jordan has already left the company a few months after winning the tournament.
