Flying out this holiday weekend? This is when CVG will be the busiest

Airport officials have a few recommendations for travelers preparing for take-off this holiday weekend.

Thursday and Friday will be the busiest days of travel this July 4 weekend at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. The busiest time for departures will occur between 5 and 7 a.m. Most arrivals will come in the span between noon and 2 p.m., and into the evening. 

CVG anticipates serving 80% of its 2019 passenger volume during the 2021 summer. In comparison, CVG saw only 40% of its 2019 passenger volume during 2020.

"We continue to see leisure travel returning this summer and are hopeful it increases throughout the rest of the year," Candace McGraw, chief executive officer for CVG, said in a news release.

According to the release, this summer CVG has seen more than 200 weekly flights to their 14 nonstop destinations in Florida, a more than 50% increase compared to summer 2019.

In preparation for this weekend, CVG recommends that passengers arrive at least two hours before their scheduled departure time. Masks are still required for all passengers, vaccinated or not. For more tips, passengers can check out CVG's blog on summer travel.
