In a latest development, the Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Ltd (MMMOCL) is looking for an agency that can carry out track maintenance and supply manpower for both Metro Line 7 (from Gundavali to Overipada) and 2A (from Dahisar East to Andheri West), including Charkop depot. MMMOCL will take care of the operations and maintenance of both these lines once the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) completes the civil work.
According to MMMOCL officials, the maintenance of the track and supply of manpower has been estimated at cost of Rs 1.57 crore. Those interested can submit their details before July 30. The sale of tenders will be available from June 30.
As more than 90% of the civil work on both the lines has been completed, commercial operations along this corridor should begin by next year. The MMMOCL had started a dynamic trial run on the 20-km stretch between Dhanukarwadi and Aarey Colony on both Metro Line 7 and 2A recently.
On Metro Line 7 and 2A, Japan imported head hardened HH1080 grade rails have been laid. Once placed, the rails will be welded using mobile flash butt welding machine. The ballastless track laying work will begin thereafter. This type of track is recommended on viaducts as regular cleaning and replacement of ballast at such places is not possible.
Once operational, the two corridors are expected to ferry around 12.77 lakh commuters daily between Dahisar and Andheri by 2031.
