Thane, Jun 29 (UNI) The Shanti Nagar police under Bhiwandi division arrested as many as Nine persons and claimed to have solved several crimes of dacoities, house breaking thefts, theft of motorcycles, and also under the NDPS act the police said.
Addressing a news conference the Deputy Commissioner of Police Bhiwandi Yogesh Chavan told newsmen on Tuesday that booty worth around Rs. 12.91 lakhs had been seized from them he said.
The Sr. PI of the Shanti Nagar police station Shital Raut who was also present for conference said that the drive and intensified petrolling had been undertaken consequent upon the rise in crimes and directions from the seniors and during the drive they could get hold of the accused persons.
The DCP said that in the first case two criminals had been arrested and as many as eight cases of theft, house breaking, and motorcycle had been detected and goods worth Rs. 8.30 lakhs seized from them.
He gave the names of the accused as Malang Yasar Jaffari, 20, and Mohammad Asif Mohammad Imtiaz Ansari, 19 he said.
In another case three who were preparing for dacoity had been arrested on June 26, by the Shanti Nagar police. The police seized the accessories used for the dacoity including chopper, fire arms, chilli powder, and a car from them totally valued at Rs. 3.69 lakhs. The police gave the names of the arrested as Mohammad Nooman Nooralam Ansari, 32, Jahangir Daoowod Shaikh, 38, and Nafiz @ Raju Shahabuddin Ansari, 29. They were planning to carry out a dacoity at a jewellery shop in Temghar the police said.
In the third case he said, four persons had been arrested and drugs worth around Rs. 1 lakh seized from them. Their names were given as Hussain Mohammad Ansari, 32, Imran Mohammad Moazzam Ansari, 24, Arafat Mohammad Shaikh, 22 and Mohammad Akram Mohammad Vahid Ansari @ Baba Ding Dong, 28 the police said.
