Facebook, citing its internal data and surveys conducted by WARC, has indicated that Internet services in Vietnam has increased sharply in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, according to Vietnam-based ictnews.

Internet users in Vietnam have spent four hours daily watching online video clips on average, four times the average watching time before the pandemic, reported the Vietnamese-language news outlet.

On average, an Internet user in Vietnam daily watches online video of below three minutes for 2.1 times, 3- to 7-minute clips for 1.7 times, and clips of over 10 minutes for 1.5 times. For online video of below 10 minutes, 87% of watchers choose Facebook, said ictnews.

In rural areas in Vietnam, 97% of Internet users watch video on YouTube every week, for 67% of them like YouTube videos more than TV.

Of teenage Internet users in Vietnam, 28.82% like YouTube the most, much higher than 15.67% for Zalo and 15.01% for Facebook. However, TikTok is increasingly attractive to such users.

According to Hanoi-based advertising company Adsota, there are 68.72 million Internet users and 72 million users of social media platforms in Vietnam, taking up 70.3% and 73.7% respectively of its population of 97.75 million.
