Almost two-thirds of the world's countries have a national cybersecurity strategy - ITU

About two-thirds (64%) of countries worldwide had a national cybersecurity strategy (NCS) by the end of 2020, against 58 percent in 2018, according to the ITU's latest Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI). About half said they have formed a national computer incident response team (CIRT), up 11 percent since 2018. In general, the ITU recorded a greater uptake of different technologies during the covid-19 pandemic, putting cybersecurity at the forefront. Over 70 percent of the countries said they conducted cybersecurity awareness campaigns in 2020, compared to 66 percent in 2018.
