JAMMU: Four people, including two women and an infant, died after a vehicle carrying labourers plunged into a deep gorge after it met with an accident near Khooni Nallah along Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Ramban district in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday morning, police said.
"At around 0530 hours, a vehicle, on its way from Jammu to
Srinagar carrying labourers, met with an accident and plunged into a gorge near Khooni Nallah," said senior superintendent of police Ramban PD Nitya.
She said, "On receiving information police along with QRT, UTDRF and Army teams immediately rushed to spot and launched the search and rescue operations."

"Three people, including two women, were found dead while five others were rescued and were taken to district hospital Ramban where two-year-old succumbed to injuries," the official added.
"Three more persons were found dead during the rescue operation,"
SSP Ramban added.
The deceased have been identified as Aryan Sahu (2yrs), s/o Deepak Sahu, Santra Devi (43), w/o Maya Ram, and Dhuj Bhai (42), w/o Bagirath, all residents of Saharnghar, Chattisgarh and
Sunil Singh (31), s/o Late Shamsher singh of Rakh Burn, Jammu while those injured are Narayan Manji (21), son of Ramesh Manji,
Dinesh Kumar (19), son of Baghi Rath and Maghe Lal,(17), son of
Amar Singh, Dhoop Chand (21), all from Chhattisgarh are being hospitalised.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case under sections 279,337,304A of the IPC.
