BHOPAL: The Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission announced the revised tariff rates on Wednesday. Though rates per unit havenÃt been changed much for domestic consumers but slight increase has been made in fixed charge.
The power Distribution Companies (Discoms) had demanded a hike in tariff by 6.23% but the regulatory commission allowed rise of only 0.63%. The Discoms have projected Annual Revenue Requirement (ARR) of Rs 44,814 crore for the year 2021-22 with a revenue gap of Rs 2,629 crore at existing tariff and proposed to recover the gap through tariff hike of 6.23%.
Nevertheless, the Commission allowed filling gap of Rs 264 crore only which means- increase of 0.63% only.
Commission has kept the rates per unit of electricity almost the same but has made slight changes in the fixed charge that will add to existing electricity bill of the consumers.
According to experts, an average domestic consumer will experience a nominal raise between Rs 7-10 on his monthly bill.
No changes have been made in tariff for agriculture and allied services.
In a positive development, the fix charge for charging stations of E-rickshaw and E-vehicles have been reduced from existing Rs 120/kva to Rs 100/kva. This will encourage adoption of e-vehicles. Battery swapping stations have also been included in this category.
Changes in Fix Charge
- Fix charge up to 50 units in urban was being charged at Rs 61 and in rural Rs 46 per connection. This has been revised to Rs 64 and Rs 50 respectively.
- Fix charge for 51-150 units was Rs 102 in urban areas and Rs 82 in rural areas. It has been revised to Rs 109 and Rs 90 per connection, respectively.
- Fix charge for 151-300 units used to cost Rs 23 per 15 units in urban areas and Rs 20 in rural areas. It has been increased by Re 1.
- Fix charge for above 300 units used to cost Rs 25 per 15 units in urban areas and Rs 23 in rural areas. It has also been increased by Re 1.
