BHOPAL: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the government may consider handing over the responsibility for distribution of food grains to self-help groups.
Besides that, the government is mulling over giving the responsibility for maintenance of roads in 15 tribal-dominated districts in the state to the self-help groups, he said.
The Chief Minister has further said that the crisis management committees should be asked to monitor the functioning of the shops set up under public distribution system.
Stern action should be taken against those who commit irregularities in PDS.
The Chief Minister made the statement at a meeting with ministers on Wednesday.
It was informed at the meeting that domestic hands, trans- genders, the families that suffered from covid-19 and other deprived classes have been included in the public distribution system.
Chouhan said that a democratic government is answerable to the poor and that the administration needs the support of the poor and the deprived classes.
Chouhan said he wants to make Madhya Pradesh a welfare state, so efforts should be made to give quick relief to the poor under various schemes.
There should be several projects to provide education, health facilities and the means of livelihood, he said.
Chouhan urged the ministers and peopleĆs representatives to have communication with the people about the beneficiaries to know whether they are getting the facilities or not.
That will help them get feedback on various projects as well as make those schemes more vibrant.
