Wimbledon 2021: How to Watch Venus Williams, Sofia Kenin Second Round Matches, Live Stream
Venus Williams and Sofia Kenin headline a battery of Americans in the second round at Wimbledon on Wednesday, which sees three of the top four seeds in action.
While her sister Serena was forced to withdraw with an injury on Tuesday, Venus Williams won her first match in southwest London since 2018.
A five-time Wimbledon champion, Williams defeated Mihaela Buzarnescu of Romania 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 and will play No. 21 seed Ons Jabeur of Tunisia on Wednesday.
The win against Buzarnescu made Williams, who turned 41 last month, the fourth-oldest woman ever to win a match at Wimbledon.
Asked what kept motivating her in her post-match press conference, the American replied:
"You know, [I'm] good at what I do. You can't win them all. Life is about how you handle challenges. Each point is a challenge on the court. No one gives you anything. I like to think I handle my challenges well."
Speaking after her 6-2, 6-1 win against Sweden's Rebecca Peterson, Jabeur said it would be a "dream" to face Williams, who had yet to play her first-round match.
"I'm praying for her to win right now. It's such an honor, privilege, everything, to play Venus," she told ESPN.
"She's a legend and such an inspiration for me. I've watched her so many times. I love the way she fights. Honestly, it would be my dream to play her."
Kenin, the No. 4 seed, is one of the three top-four ranked players in action on Wednesday alongside No. 2 seed Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus and No. 3 Elina Svitolina of Ukraine.
Kenin defeated China's Wang Xinyu in straight sets on Monday and will look to advance past the second round at Wimbledon for the first time in her career when she plays fellow American Madison Brengle.

Venus Williams and Ons Jabeur are due out on Court No. 1 at approximately 4:40 p.m. local time (11:40 a.m. ET), while Sofia Kenin and Madison Brengle are scheduled to play on Court No. 2 at 12 p.m. ET.

The American contingent in action in the second round on Wednesday also includes No. 22 seed Jessica Pegula, No. 23 seed Madison Keys, CoCo Vandeweghe, Claire Liu, Lauren Davis, Kristie Ahn, Sloane Stephens, Madison Brengle, Danielle Rose Collins and Shelby Rogers.
The latter faces No. 15 seed Maria Sakkari of Greece, while Davis and Keys play each other, as do Ahn and Stephens and Kenin and Brengle. Meanwhile, Liu takes on No. 18 seed Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan.
Elsewhere, No. 3 seed Elina Svitolina of Ukraine plays Belgium's Alison Van Uytanck, while No. 2 seed Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus plays Britain's Katie Boulter and former world No. 1 Karolina Plíšková, the No. 8 seed, takes on Donna Vekic of Croatia.
