NOIDA/GHAZIABAD: The
positivity rate in both Noida and
Ghaziabad has dropped drastically in the past one month. The current positivity rate, which is 0.3% in both the districts, is the lowest since the outbreak of the
pandemic in March last year.
Just a month ago, the positivity rate was as high as 9% in Noida and 7.4% in Ghaziabad.
A total of 467 cases has been reported in Ghaziabad so far this month, but the last 10 days have seen only 32 cases. Noida has registered just 65 cases during the same period.
While Covid cases had started to reduce towards the end of May, the drop in positivity rate is stark this month.
The positivity rate in Noida had reduced from 12% in April to 9% in May, and further to 0.33% in June.
The figure in June is slightly lower than that of February 2021, which had the lowest number of cases this year (184) and a positivity rate of 0.36%. Also, the total tests done in February were 55,175, compared to over 1.5 lakh tests in June.
In Ghaziabad, the sample positivity rate was below 1% in the first three months of this year, but recorded a steep hike during the second wave in April-May. However, the fall in the positivity rate in June is as dramatic as the rise just two months ago.
From just 0.7% in March to 8% in April, the figure had jumped by 11 times. This was when Ghaziabad conducted over 1.5 lakh tests, which was almost double the March figure of 87,810.
Ghaziabad chief medical officer Dr NK Gupta said that the department would continue with the current rate of testing as it helps in mapping the Covid spread in the district.
