Toyota Kirloskar
Motor (TKM) announced the partial resumption of operations at its plant at
Bidadi in Karnataka beginning June 15, 2021. It will also set up an oxygen
generating plant at the modern Community Health Centre (CHC) that the company
is upgrading and building with an investment of Rs 120 million in the location.
The oxygen plant
will be equipped with the latest technology and have the capacity to generate
approximately 50 cylinders per day. It will also have a bottling facility to
ensure oxygen supply to the CHC and further provide oxygen to government
hospitals in Ramanagara district. The new plant is expected to be ready by end
of November 2021 and will assist the Government in its fight against the
COVID-19 pandemic.

Senior VP, Corporate Affairs and Governance, TKM, said that, Toyota, in line
with its safety philosophy has undertaken numerous measures to complement
government efforts. Under the CSR initiatives, healthcare has always been a
priority area and they have continuously worked with the support of the
government to ramp up healthcare facilities. Both Central and State Governments
have taken proactive measures in the fight against COVID. They would fully
support the immense efforts taken by them and hope that life in the country
takes a speedy return to normalcy.
The company’s Bidadi plant will operate at the
prescribed workforce strength of 50% and have training for employees on the
‘new normal’ in terms of facilities and processes. All operations will be
carried out in strict concurrence with the State and Central Government’s
directives.
The plant will
focus on fulfilling the pending orders that were not met due to the annual
maintenance shutdown and the lockdown by the state government. The company also
announced its plans to vaccinate employees, their families and extend support
to dealers and supplier staff for the vaccination.
