After missing a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the St. Clair River Classic Offshore Race “is a go,” race organizers said in a press release.

The event, now in its 27th year, is a partnership between Powerboat P1 and the Offshore Powerboat Association. The Blue Water Offshore Racing Association has also worked to organize the event.

This year, a recently-passed regulation will allow alcoholic beverages in St. Clair’s Palmer Park, Rotary Park and the public rights-of-way between noon and 11 p.m.

This year’s entertainment will be programmed by the St. Clair Chamber of Commerce and Riverview Plaza.

“As president of the Blue Water Offshore Racing Association, it is an honor to once again help bring the St. Clair River Classic to its impressive 27th annual race,” said Steve Brunner.

This year, more than 60 racers have registered for the event, Brunner said, including the 47-foot Miss GEICO, piloted by sports legend Travis Pastrana.

The event will be held Friday, July 30 thr Sunday, Aug. 1, on the St. Clair River near St. Clair's Palmer Park.
