GURUGRAM: More than six months after GMDA proposed its electric bike projects for last-mile connectivity, the project hasn’t yet taken off due to delay in approvals over the sites for docking stations. The MoU had been signed months ago.
A senior GMDA official said most of the sites for the bikes’ parking and charging fell under the jurisdiction of MCG and HSVP. Permissions from these departments were holding up the project’s launch.
“We had an interdepartmental meeting under the HSVP administrator and GMDA additional CEO Jitender Yadav and most of the sites have now been approved. It now depends on Yulu on how soon they can set up the stations and roll out the project,” said the official. Attempts to reach Yulu for a response went unanswered.
TOI had reported that GMDA had tied up with mobility startup Yulu to set up e-bike stands at 40 different locations across the city with around 250 e-bikes.
According to GMDA sources, 250 e-bikes will be available at 40 ‘Yulu zones’. One can download the Yulu app, find the nearest bike, use the scanner to open the vehicle lock and then use it within a radius of 5-10 km from the station.
