SRINAGAR: Security forces on Monday apprehended a top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander, Nadeem
Abrar, from Parimpora on the outskirts of
Srinagar. Abrar, who was involved in several attacks on security forces and civilians in Kashmir, was travelling with another terrorist in a car. Security forces stopped his vehicle at a checkpoint near Parimpora and arrested the two.
Abrar broke down during interrogation and revealed the presence of a Pakistani terrorist at Malhoora, about 3km from where he was nabbed, police said. Security forces immediately cordoned off the area, leading to a gunfight, IG police
Vijay Kumar said. Official sources said three
CRPF personnel, including two officers, were injured in the encounter.
Abrar was involved the killing of three CRPF men on March 25 this year at
Lawaypora, the IG said, adding that he had snatched the rifles of the slain jawans.
