Manipur Minister assures assistance to people affected by highway works

Imphal, Jun 29 (UNI) Public Works Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh on Monday assured to release the compensation amount at the earliest for the families affected by the new road alignment for restoration of the

national highway stretch.

He inspected National Highway – 2 at Khongnem Thana, Senapati district which was affected in 2020 by a major landslide.

The minister said that any form of agitation during the present pandemic will cause undue sufferings to the people.

He said government will compensate the affected families at the earliest to facilitate them to move to a suitable location. The Minister also met the village chairman and members of the affected families and heard their grievances.

The Minister further urged the public to support the government in its endeavour to bring equal development in the state. He said the government has opened its door wide open for the public and further called for constructive criticism instead of spreading negative criticism.

He further appealed to the public of Senapati district to make the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination a success by coming out in large numbers.

He also visited the temporary settlement area of the affected families at Khongnem Thana Community Hall. It may be mentioned that a landslide occurred at Khongnem Thana Village along NH-2 on October 23, 2020.
