Frankfurt
Continental has
appointed Gilles Mabire (49) as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of the
Automotive Technologies group sector. He will assume the new role latest by
January 1, 2022. He is currently taking charge of the Commercial Vehicles and
Services business unit. In his new role, he will succeed Dr. Dirk Abendroth who
will leave the company at the end of June 2021. Michael Hülsewies, 48, head of
Architecture and Software will take over the management of the CTO organization
until Mabire takes up his post.
According to
Nikolai Setzer, the team is excited to work with Gilles Mabire on the
Automotive Board and also implement the new automotive strategy, with six
clearly defined strategic action fields. The CTO organization plays a vital
role in integrating and developing strategic action fields and also to generate
scalable solutions to the customers, he said. Technological development is
required in the automotive industry to ensure clean, safe, comfortable, and
connected mobility.
As per Nikolai
Setzer, it is also expected that apart from the technological expertise, Gilles
Mabire will also bring a broad understanding of customers. He is so valuable to
continental because of his experience in business
unit management. He also thanked Michael Hülsewies for offering his support
during this transition period. He is an expert who has a major role in shaping
and advancing the transformation of software.
